Every year I enjoy going to the Spring Harp Fest - a celebration of harmonica music - primarily blues harmonica. It is great fun and I love the music. This year I couldn't stay as long as I usually do because I had other things to do. But I did help a friend make the delicious homemade potato salad that they were serving up. If you ever get a chance to go, please do. When I was sketching this, I was in the back where I could get some shade, though it wasn't too hot. On the other side of the people and tents is the amphitheater where the music was happening. There were lots more people there, but I'm not comfortable with drawing people, so you only see a few. I'm trying to learn to sketch faster too and not be too fussy with details. I actually did most of it with watercolor only, then added pen and more watercolor later.
I forgot to take note of who this is, but it was mighty fine music.

Old Sketch of Me
This was a funny blast from the past. I've been cleaning out various parts of the house and came across this sketch my husband did of me from about 10 or 12 years ago when I was learning to crochet. It cracks me up because I look so intense, probably from trying to keep track of the 6 or 7 fingers on each hand!

ATC #217 - Secrets
Another ATC for the swap. I made 2 copies of the photo (from a magazine, I think) and cut out the ladies from one of the copies and popped it up for dimension, which is why they sort of look double.

Day 172 - Boys Chasing Bats
These boys are chasing bats and picking up discs. In Chinese the bat symbolizes good luck. The discs most likely represent money in this context, making the label represent future success. Or perhaps the striving for success.

Day 171 - Little Boys Fishing
I think this one is kind of funny, with the little boys fishing in some kind of giant fishbowl.

Day 157 - Happy Birthday to Me & My Brother
Happy Birthday to me and my twin brother. This picture is one of my favorites from when we were little. Oh, it's also my pug Chloe's birthday too.
I should have posted this on our actual birthday (the 6th), but oh well.

Day 135 - Princess of Birds
The picture on this ATC is from a label for dyes, I think early 1900s, but I'm not sure. It came as part of a collage sheet & they are all pretty. She looks like she's having a fun day relaxing and playing with the birds.

Day 123 - Happy Birthday to my Niece!
Today is my niece's birthday! Happy Birthday Melissa! This picture is actually several years old, but I really like it - she looks quite mysterious and arty.
Also, today marks 4 months of my 365 project!

Day 78 - Happy Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day to my Dad; I miss you! He was a stamp collector, primarily of France and French colonies. He also collected British colonies and thought that it was interesting that Great Britain didn't have to identify the country on their postage stamps because "everyone knew the Queen of England". He loved railroads and also Ham Radio. I'm sure at one time I knew why he had 2 call signs, something special I think, but I can't remember anymore. He was very interested in the space missions and also worked on the software that was used for the Apollo missions and tracking the capsule's splashdown. I think the photo was taken in 1947, when he finished his Master's Degree.

Day 70 - Remembering My Grandparents
This picture is of my grandparents, but I don't know when it was taken. I'm guessing it was pretty early, maybe 1915 to 1920 or thereabouts. The actual picture is much larger as they are in a huge field of daisies. My grandfather had nice thick, curly hair all his life.

Day 48 - Sweet tired baby
Color on this photo is a little wonky - I'm not at home so can't get a good angle and the lighting isn't too great either. This is my nephew's daughter Estella. They were visiting last week. We went to the Zoo and then out to dinner, when she finally went to sleep. She just cracks me up because she naturally puts her hands behind her head. What a little sweetie! Scrapbook paper, Pogo photo, ribbon, German scrap.
I took the picture with my phone (Droid X) then sent it to my Pogo printer via Bluetooth. Take that, iPhone!

Day 17 - Green
Today's theme is/was green. One thing I really noticed today is how hard it is sometimes to make a collage this small. Although I'm glad I didn't pick a larger format for this challenge, I had to reject a bunch of stuff because it was too big for the ATC.
BTW, the picture is of my grandmother, grandfather and his sister. Their last names began with "F".

Day 8 - Mom's cousin Ruth
This is my Mom's cousin Ruth in the mid to late 40s I think. My collage supplies are so disorganized that I got rather frustrated while looking for stuff to use. Sigh...

Day 7 - My Mom as a little girl
This picture is of my Mom and grandfather when she was about 4 years old, in 1922 or possibly 1923. I'm pretty sure I never saw this picture until after she died and I was looking for pictures of her as a child. It's one of my favorite pictures of her.
