Early 2017 Sketching

Arboretum in Balboa Park and a Lady Slipper Orchid from inside the arboretum.

Here is another Balboa Park sketch from a lovely early spring day.

 I love the San Diego Zoo but the SketchCrawlers were rained out the first 2 months this year. Boo hoo! A quick sketch of Satu the Orangutan leaning up against the glass.

These are detail sketches of a tree near the Sabertooth Grill. The pink flower clusters were about 6 or 7 inches wide. It looked very cool.

Spanish Village SketchCrawl

Another First Friday Extra Credit sketching in Spanish Village. As I was going to the location from the parking lot, I noticed a bunch of these little flowers from one of the trees in the parking lot. They are only about one inch long, but are cute so I decided to sketch them.

Day 175 - Spring Sunrise Smiles

Another matchbox label unusual in the use of blue. This one makes me think of a fresh sunrise in the spring with the flowering plum and cherry trees. Very pretty!
Sorry I got so behind in posting! I'm taking a bunch of classes this fall that are keeping me hopping!

Day 56 - Hope for the Trees

Went to El Monte Park in the east county today where there are lots of really old oak trees. I did this watercolor sketch of one of the oaks, but it was too big to fit on an ATC. I had planned on cutting the paper down, but didn't mark the size of an ATC before I started. I didn't have time for another sketch, so I took a photo of my sketch & printed it on my Pogo printer, then used the photo on the ATC. Voila!
