Day 59 - Losing Myself

I sure have been losing myself in this ATC project. It's starting to take over my life; but mostly in good ways, although my previously poor housekeeping habits and untidiness are getting even worse! Jury's still out on the part about finding myself - ask me again in 10 months when this project is done.
Painted paper, printed quote and specialty papers.

Day 58 - Dreams of a Midnight Kiss

Sure getting creative with the titles! But it amuses me, so you don't mind, I hope.

Day 57 - At the Beach with Friends

Today I spent a few hours with 2 friends from high school. We took our dogs to the dog park on Fiesta Island and walked around. It was very windy and cold - well, cold for San Diego, especially with the strong winds. But we had a good time catching up on news and gossip.
Watercolor, photo and embellishments. My Pogo photo printer is sure handy!

Day 56 - Hope for the Trees

Went to El Monte Park in the east county today where there are lots of really old oak trees. I did this watercolor sketch of one of the oaks, but it was too big to fit on an ATC. I had planned on cutting the paper down, but didn't mark the size of an ATC before I started. I didn't have time for another sketch, so I took a photo of my sketch & printed it on my Pogo printer, then used the photo on the ATC. Voila!
Painted paper, photo, ribbon, sticker.

Day 55 - Zentangle® #16 with Watercolor

Ink and watercolor on watercolor paper. I'm going to cut up some hot press paper, I think the pen work will be easier on it. I find it difficult to keep an even line on the bumpier cold press.

Day 54 - Grow Flowers

Yesterday's ATC. I was having trouble sending my picture from my phone to my computer. I hope it doesn't happen again, because I don't know what fixed it finally. Anyway, here it is. Scrapbook paper, washi paper tape, washi (yuzen) paper, and stickers. I don't know what I'm going to do for subject matter when I run out of those faux postals. Although I optimistically cut another couple dozen ATCs from watercolor paper, so I guess I should start sketching more on them.

Day 53 - Eat Your Veggies

I got a bunch more collage papers last weekend and one looks like corn on the cob. So today is a vegetable-themed ATC. Scrapbook paper, stickers, specialty papers. Eat more veggies!

Day 51 - Remember

Posting this early because I have a lot to do today. Elsewhere a "prompt" for yesterday was about remembering childhood stuff, so I'm using that theme for today. Scrapbook paper, stickers, napkin, specialty papers.

Day 49 - An Exciting Day!

We interrupt our regular programming to bring you some exciting news! A painting I entered into a juried show was accepted today! I'm very excited! So my ATC for today is a little collage containing a photo of my painting (collage, really). And I made a little acceptance ribbon for it. The red with stars at the bottom is some washi paper tape I just bought today. I can tell I'm going to have fun with this tape! Scrapbook paper, Pogo photo, ribbon, washi paper tape.

Day 48 - Sweet tired baby

Color on this photo is a little wonky - I'm not at home so can't get a good angle and the lighting isn't too great either. This is my nephew's daughter Estella. They were visiting last week. We went to the Zoo and then out to dinner, when she finally went to sleep. She just cracks me up because she naturally puts her hands behind her head. What a little sweetie! Scrapbook paper, Pogo photo, ribbon, German scrap.

I took the picture with my phone (Droid X) then sent it to my Pogo printer via Bluetooth. Take that, iPhone!

Day 47 - Yellow Poppy

All the doodling I made on the background paper kind of makes it look like a rug. Except for the boo-boo... Scrapbook paper, sticker, specialty paper, ink.

Day 46 - Harmony Rose

Geez, I wish my handwriting wasn't so ghastly. Another collage that ended up nowhere near what I planned. Oh, well, 'tis done! And this is one eighth of the way through the year. Scrapbook paper, sticker, specialty papers, ink.

Day 45 - Peace - Timeless Journey

Apparently I like this theme (timeless journey) since I used it once before already. Does that make it a series? :-)  I love these faux postals although they don't seem to save me any time since I have to look through gobs of background papers and scraps trying to find just the right colors and textures. Sigh... Scrapbook paper, stickers, stamping, specialty papers.

Day 44 - Kohlrabi

I love this background paper so much I couldn't bear to cover it up any more than I have. I've been wanting to use it for a while but couldn't figure out what to do with it since the colors are so unusual. Then I found the kohlrabi faux postal in my stash and realized it was perfect! It picks up all the colors from the background. Finding the rest of the papers and putting it together so it didn't cover the best part of the paper was a challenge, though. I think I should have made the green stripe at the top smaller but it's not as glaring in real life, so I still like it. Painted paper, stickers, specialty papers.

Day 39 - Bird Secrets

This was made totally from scraps in my stash. I didn't have to tear any paper or cut anything. I had already cut out the bird stuff for another collage but didn't use it; the papers were already torn up leftovers. Pretty cool... Cutout bird, postage stamp, stamping, specialty papers.
[Note:This is the post that was lost when Blogger was broken, then restored. But when I edited it to add labels, the publish date got changed. It was really published on the 11th.]

Day 41 - Giggle

This is a picture of me and my twin brother when we were about a year (?) - I actually have no idea, that's just a wild guess. Painted paper, photo, stamping, specialty papers.

Day 40 - Be Yourself

This is another collage that came together almost by itself. I had the painted background that already said "Be yourself" and the rest just kind of fell into place easily. Finding the British postage stamp in the right color was perfect. Painted paper, postage stamp, specialty papers.

Day 38 - Zentangle® #13

I made a sampler (sort of) of tangle patterns that are "string-like". In other words, they don't fill in a space but are more likely to define the space. Well, I don't know if that makes sense to anyone but me. I didn't write down where I got the variation of Inapod (leftmost pattern), but it's in my sketchbook called Pea Pops. Oh, no shading. Oops, my bad.

Day 34 - Rose #2

Went to Balboa Park Rose Garden again with the sketchcrawl group. This started out as a picture of the rose "About Face" which I just love because the backs of the petals are a lot darker than the fronts. I wasn't happy with the watercolor effort so worked it over with pencils. The color is all wrong now, but whatever, it's still a pretty rose.

Don't know where I got the picture of the cute kids, but it was just right. The swirlies are from Rub-ons; I did not draw them. Painted paper, picture, rub-ons, stamping.

Day 31 - Run with the Wind

One of the women in my painting class had made sponge stamps by cutting up compressed sponges & she suggested I should stamp some ATCs to save myself time. So she loaned me one of hers shaped like a running horse. I think she did a great job cutting up the sponge & I had fun stamping with it. I'm going to look for some of those compressed sponges to play with. Here is the first ATC from that series; I just added detail with my Micron pen. Too bad my handwriting is so awful!

Day 30 - Tranquility Bird

One month finished! Eleven more to go - oh joy. Haha. I found a sticker sheet with these cool bird & nature faux postals that I got from ARTchix Studio a while back. They are just lovely so I picked my favorite one to use today. It's hard to see but it says "Tranquility" on it. Most all of us can use more tranquility in our lives. Although the Zentangle® patterns on it are not very tranquil! Sticker, ink on Bristol paper.

Day 29 - Collage with Zentangle® #2

Today I went to a meeting of the Zentangle® club at The Stamp Addict, where I met Suzanne Wilka for the first time. She is a very talented local CZT (Certified Zentangle® Teacher). She had been doing some Zentangle® on black tiles, so I showed her my Pilot Latte pens, which are similar to Sakura Souffle pens but have a finer line. I don't think they have the dimensionality of the Souffle pens, but they are very opaque and show up well on black, which is what she was looking for.

Since I got the Latte pens out, I decided to use them for my ATC today as they have some pretty colors. Not being able to leave well enough alone, I was messing with a bunch of different pens on the ATC. Messing is the operative word, here, as that is what I made. Collage to the rescue! Covered up the seriously offending areas, added corner foils, and the pen - which is not so stark black but I gave up trying to get a better photo, so you just have to live with it...

Now I'm off to light a candle to Our Lady of Incompatible Ink.
