Day 174 - Australia Cranes.

This stamp has really interesting colors, that don't really come out in the photo. The background is more of the painted paper that has a stenciled grid.

Day 173 - Tree Trunk

I was cutting up some really cool netted ribbon to use for something else when I happened to turn it on its side and realized it looked like a really old tree trunk. So I added the leaf ribbon and the vaguely foliage-looking postage stamp. More of the painted background paper that's impossible for me to photograph well. Excuse me, I have to go cut more ribbon for my other project...

I haven't done many Zentangle-inspired things lately. I have this scrapbook paper with dots on it and decided to doodle on it, then added the old Rhodesian postage stamp.

Day 78 - Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to my Dad; I miss you! He was a stamp collector, primarily of France and French colonies. He also collected British colonies and thought that it was interesting that Great Britain didn't have to identify the country on their postage stamps because "everyone knew the Queen of England". He loved railroads and also Ham Radio. I'm sure at one time I knew why he had 2 call signs, something special I think, but I can't remember anymore. He was very interested in the space missions and also worked on the software that was used for the Apollo missions and tracking the capsule's splashdown. I think the photo was taken in 1947, when he finished his Master's Degree.

Day 75 - Japan

Images from a variety of Japanese things. The writing is from the back of a lovely vintage (1958) Japanese napkin that a friend gave me. The two children are cut from some Japanese washi paper.

Day 39 - Bird Secrets

This was made totally from scraps in my stash. I didn't have to tear any paper or cut anything. I had already cut out the bird stuff for another collage but didn't use it; the papers were already torn up leftovers. Pretty cool... Cutout bird, postage stamp, stamping, specialty papers.

Day 40 - Be Yourself

This is another collage that came together almost by itself. I had the painted background that already said "Be yourself" and the rest just kind of fell into place easily. Finding the British postage stamp in the right color was perfect. Painted paper, postage stamp, specialty papers.

Day 18 - Windows onto Distant Lands

The good news is that much silliness went into this ATC. It was completely overloaded; all but the kitchen sink, as the saying goes. So I pared it down and ended up with this.  Go figure.
I think this image is from Chris Cozen, my acrylic/mixed media teacher. She is so generous with her resources and images. It's probably Italy or some exotic place like that.

Day 17 - Green

Today's theme is/was green. One thing I really noticed today is how hard it is sometimes to make a collage this small. Although I'm glad I didn't pick a larger format for this challenge,  I had to reject a bunch of stuff because it was too big for the ATC.
BTW, the picture is of my grandmother, grandfather and his sister. Their last names began with "F".

Day 7 - My Mom as a little girl

This picture is of my Mom and grandfather when she was about 4 years old, in 1922 or possibly 1923. I'm pretty sure I never saw this picture until after she died and I was looking for pictures of her as a child. It's one of my favorite pictures of her.
